The 2010 Siggraph Spacetime Exhibition showcased his experimental hand-drawn animated film Transformations on Bartok. The film placed well in other festivals, including winning Best Experimental Animation at the 2011 Savannah International Animation Festival. Stephen has a background in traditional drawing and sculpture as well as in mathematics and C++ programming, which has allowed him to create animation in a variety of media, from computer 3D animation to stop-motion to traditional.
